Ken Wessel

Aluminum Line Products Company (ALPCO) was founded by Kenneth C. Wessel in 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to Aluminum Line Products, Mr. Wessel was employed by Alcoa as a sales engineer covering Ohio and Pennsylvania and responsible for selling products to the transportation OEM’s as well as other end use markets. Fruehauf Trailers was one of Mr. Wessel’s accounts using Alcoa’s wide width aluminum coil for trailer roofs. Mr. Wessel approached Alcoa to recognize him as a potential distributor and processor of aluminum sheet and coil and Aluminum Line Products was born. His entrepreneurial spirit and drive provided a framework for a solid aluminum company to grow.

Over time, ALPCO’s customer needs changed and the company has transformed into a key OEM supplier to the Transportation, Building Products, Specialty Trailer, Consumer Durables, and Energy market segments. ALPCO has evolved into a value added supplier by expanding its operations to include a vast array of processing and fabrication of many standard and specialized products used throughout the markets we serve.

The company is still headquartered in Westlake, Ohio with over 100,000 square feet of processing and fabrication space. Also, ALPCO has over 20 additional stocking warehouses for JIT inventory to support key OEM customers.

ALPCO has had a focused presence in Northern Indiana and surrounding regions for the last 35 years. In 2014 market demands and opportunities allowed them to open a 46,000 square foot satellite manufacturing and distribution facility located in Elkhart Indiana. This strategic location is essential in providing maximum product availability to the local Specialty Trailer and regional Transportation markets.
